Valérie Grenouilleau nage dans l’univers de la piscine depuis sa plus tendre enfance. Il faut dire que l’entreprise Piscines Pyrénées Construction qu’elle dirige est une institution depuis 40 ans.

« Ce sont mes parents qui ont créé cette entreprise en 1979. Mon père est un pionnier de la construction de piscine dans le 64, avec un premier magasin à Pau puis un second à Bidard géré par son fils Olivier. Avec ma mère à ses côtés, il a aussi créé avec six confrères en France le GIP qui rejoindra le réseau Carré Bleu et développera cette marque patrimoniale française. » D’abord tentée par une carrière dans le tourisme à Lyon puis à Toulouse, Valérie revient dans le giron familial en 2001 avec son mari, quand ses parents décident de transmettre l’entreprise. Depuis 2013, c’est seule qu’elle mène la barque. Un challenge qu’elle porte haut et fort. « Le costume était grand pour moi, pas mal de gens étaient dubitatifs quant à ma réussite et il a fallu m’imposer dans un métier d’hommes. Mais j’ai su m’entourer des compétences techniques et commerciales, poser les bonnes questions, apprendre et mettre en avant le côté humain et relationnel qui m’est cher. » Résultat, elle a pris la tête de pont de l’entreprise en veillant sur dix salariés sur lesquels elle ne tarit pas d’éloges, à l’image de Gilles, technicocommercial depuis 13 ans qui incarne « la fiabilité », de Christelle, sur la partie spa , « l’hyper compétente », de Lucille, assistante de direction, « mon bras droit » ou encore des quatre techniciens de pose : « des super pros ». À force d’écoute et d’un travail acharné, elle franchit les obstacles, apportant au passage un vent de renouveau avec un espace de 300 m2 rénové et élégant, un vrai sens de l’innovation ~ plan 3D, collaboration avec un paysagiste, conscience écologique ~ et une vraie expertise dans le spa. « C’est un virage que nous avons pris dès 2006. Les clients peuvent essayer les spas chez nous. On se différencie avec une gamme de produits très qualitatifs comme Carré Bleu dans la piscine ou Hot Spring, une marque de référence dans le spa. Et nous ne lançons pas un produit sans l’avoir testé ! » Le pari fonctionne et Valérie est fière de tenir le flambeau familial.

A plunge into clear waters

Valérie Grenouilleau sports a sailor sweater and has been immersed in the world of swimming pools since her early childhood days.  It’s not surprising when you know that Piscines Pyrénées Construction, the company she manages, has been an institution for 40 years now.

“My parents created the company in 1979. My father was a pioneer in swimming pool construction in the region and opened his first showrooms in Pau, then a second in Bidart which is managed by his son Olivier.  With my mother’s support, he and six colleagues throughout France also created the GIP (Public benefit consortium) that joined the Carré Bleu network and went on to develop this French legacy brand.”  To begin with, Valérie was tempted by a career in the tourism industry, first in Lyon and then in Toulouse, but returned to the comfort of her family with her husband in 2001, when her parents decided to hand over the company. Since 2013, she has been running the show single-handedly, a sizeable challenge that she hasn’t shied away from. “I had some big shoes to fill and I know that a lot of people doubted I would manage. I had to find my place in a masculine world.  But I managed to find people with the right technical and commercial skills to help me, I asked the right questions, was keen to learn, and focused on the human and customer relations aspects that are really important to me.” And so here she is now, at the helm of the company, supervising ten employees that she can’t praise enough: Gilles, the technical-sales representative for 13 years now, is “reliability” personified, Christelle, “ultra-competent”  in the spa sector, Lucille, the PA, is “my right-hand woman”, and the four professional installation technicians who are “simply the best.” By listening to others and working tirelessly, she overcomes obstacles, breathing new life and change into the renovated and elegant 300 m² showroom with a true sense of innovation – 3D mock-ups, collaboration with a landscape gardener, ecological sensitivity – and real expertise in the spa sector. “We decided to extend our activity to that sector in 2006. Customers can try out the spas in our show rooms. We stand out from the crowd owing to our range of high-quality products like Carré Bleu for swimming pools or Hot Spring which is a real benchmark in the spa market spas. And we never sell a product without having tested it ourselves!”  Things have gone swimmingly for Valérie and she is proud to have taken up the family baton.
