Dans la famille Berger, on demande le petit frère, Mathieu. À 20 ans, en BTS en alternance au CNPC de Lescar, il gère la boutique Timberland, fraîchement ouverte.

Le jeune Mathieu n’est pas tout à fait un étudiant comme les autres. « Forcément, je me sens très investi au sein de la boutique puisqu’elle prolonge l’aventure familiale commencée avec The North Face » raconte un jeune homme aussi appliqué et posé que son aîné est explosif et hyperactif. Dans un décor de loft industriel, il y propose les looks urbains cool et casual de Timberland, les vêtements, les accessoires et les chaussures homme, femme, enfant, dont l’iconique « Yellow Boots » en nubuck. « J’ai un client fan qui possède ce modèle dans vingt couleurs ! » raconte fièrement Mathieu. Et comme le grand frère Nathan n’est jamais loin pour le conseil ou les achats, la relève est naturelle et le discours commun sur l’héritage familial. « Nos parents nous ont appris à être vaillants, à bosser dur » raconte Mathieu. Pour faire vivre la boutique et la rue, les idées fusent.« On reste ouvert le dimanche du Grand Prix de Pau, on organise des ventes au déballage pour nos fidèles clients, on bichonne leurs chaussures » racontent en écho les deux frères. On vous le dit, un vent nouveau souffle sur le quartier !

Casual, did you say casual?

To complete the family group, there is Mathieu, the younger brother. At 20, on a vocational sandwich course at the CNPC in Lescar, he is manager of the Timberland store which opened recently.

Mathieu is not quite your typical student. “Of course I feel very involved in the boutique because it’s the next episode in the family adventure that began with The North Face,” explains this young man who is as diligent and calm as his elder brother is ebullient and hyperactive.  With its industrial loft décor, the Timberland boutique showcases the cool and casual looks from the well-known brand: clothing, accessories, mens’ womens’ and childrens’ shoes, including the iconic nubuck Yellow Boots. “I have one customer who is a real fan, and has twenty pairs in different colours!” says Mathieu proudly. And as his older brother Nathan is always on hand help with advice or purchases, their roles are interchangeable and the two brothers are definitely on the same page when it comes to family heritage. “Our parents taught us to be determined and work hard” says Mathieu, and the brothers are never short of ideas to keep the boutique and the street buzzing. “We stay open on Sunday for the Pau Grand Prix, we organize street sales for our regular customers, and take special care of their shoes” the brothers chorus. What did we tell you?! A wind of change is definitely blowing through this part of town!
